Procter & Gamble boycott

Do homosexuals have a right to be homosexuals? Yes
Should homosexuals be treated like second class citizens? No
Do private corporations have a right to promote gay issues? Yes
Do citizens have a right to boycott their products if they do? Yes

Actually in this case, it goes waaaaaay beyond the same sex marriage issue. Procter & Gamble has written to their Cincinnati employees asking them to support a repeal of the 11 year old Article 12, a law passed by 62%-38% which prohibited the granting of special rights to homosexuals on the basis of their sexual preferences, also donating $40,000 towards the goal. Article 12 was actually a legal response to an earlier law which treated homosexuals as a special class carrying privileges normally associated with religion, race, or ethnicity. An employee named Gary Wright has been offered a special leave of absence by P&G to chair a group called “Citizens to Restore Fairness” to further an agenda seeking to find some way around the brick wall of 62% - 38%. According to a press release, P&G said said “Cincinnati [is] out of step with doing what’s right.”

When taking this matter to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the court asserted that homosexuals are not a legally defined minority, and the U.S. Supreme Court wouldn’t hear the case when it was presented to them. Triple whammy. Maybe they should just stick with making diapers.

According to the American Family Association, P&G:

• Created and ran an ad that showed two men in bed after an apparent sexual encounter. The ad leaves the impression that homosexual sex is normal, thrilling and exciting, and was run in a homosexual publication called Xtra.

• Actively seeks out homosexual employees. Its company logo and corporate contact information appear on the top homosexual job recruiting site in America.

• Forces employees to attend a diversity training program, regardless of their moral or religious views. One P&G employee wrote to AFA: “I’m a P&G employee …. I had to go to the captive audience Diversity class. The movie on homosexuals was very offensive to Christians. It showed a man in a collar (Catholic priest?) saying ‘there is nothing in the Bible which says that homosexuality is wrong.’”

• Regularly supports pro-homosexual media with advertising. According to the Internet news site www.365Gay.com, “Procter & Gamble has been a long time supporter of the gay community. It has one of the strongest workplace equality policies among American companies and is a frequent advertiser in the LGBT media, including 365Gay.com.”

• Is a major corporate sponsor of the annual Cincinnati Pride (homosexual) event celebrating that lifestyle.

• Includes domestic partner benefits for same-sex partners in its benefits program. P&G was named by PlanetOut as a top 20 company to work for based on their pro-homosexual support and benefits.

• Sponsors the annual “Out & Equal Workplace Advocates” workplace summit. Out & Equal is a homosexual advocacy organization promoting homosexuality in major companies.

• According to Broadcasting & Cable online magazine, P&G was the top sponsor of Will & Grace between September 2003 and February 2004. P&G spent an astonishing $8.2 million in sponsorship of this program promoting the homosexual agenda.

• Between September 2003 and February 2004, P&G spent $2,000,000 in sponsorship of the program Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

• P&G sponsors the annual “Out & Equal Workplace Advocates” workplace summits. Out and Equal is a homosexual advocacy organization promoting homosexuality in major companies. http://www.outandequal.org/pdf/2003-06.pdf

• In 2004, the Human Rights Campaign gave P&G a score of 86 percent in a Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI rates large American businesses on how they are treating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors.
